Off the Florida Keys... June 22nd

Today we were up at 6am for a 4 hour drive to Key West - the southern most tip of the USA. We drove over about 30 bridges passing over various Keys to get to Key West. Most of those on the tour today were Spanish so my knowledge of languages is constantly improving!

Ernest Hemmingway was a resident of KW so we got to see the outside of his house plus a few other sights, including "Sloppy Joe's". It's a pub - honest Guv! I keep forgetting how BIG the portions of food are here in the States! My lunch was a bit of a challenge. I'll have to have my work chair strengthened to take my extra weight! Everywhere you go in KW you see "Conchs" (pronounced "Conks") which are the seashells. The tour guide advised us that we might experience popping of the ears as we reach the highest point of KW - a massive 18ft above sea level!!! Still really hot here, and we are also slap bang in the middle of hurricane season, but there aren't any brewing yet! KW was a really nice place with everyone appearing totally chilled out!

And that's it for the USA! We fly back to Blighty tmw evening and arrive in London Thurs morning, so see ya then! This is Mr Dave, truly conched out :-) x

  1. Welcome home! I want a text - day or night - with the masters result as soon as you open the envelope. My fingers are still crossed for that distinction.
See you soon for the photos.

    Love, MerseyCatty
