Ship Ahoy! - Sunday 13th June

Hello again Blotchers!

These American keyboards are so annoying - the @ and the " are on the wrong keys!

Anyhoo - the taxi driver taking us to the sea port actually knew where he was going. A very pleasant Jamican chap. I even engaged in some World Cup talk (as I knew the score!) He asked me if I was a big England fan. It was then that I opened up the can of worms that was Wales and the differences between the UK, Great Britiain, North Wales, South Wales etc. He was totally confused by the end, especially when Ms D casually mentioned that we all have the same Government. I felt I had to apologise about BP, but in the end I resisted!

We boarded the ship at 12:30 and headed straight to the restaurant to stuff our faces. We would have gone straight to our stateroom (honest Guv) but they weren't ready till 1:30. Our stateroom number is 1369 which is memorable for all sorts of reasons. Yes you're right, 69 was the number of the house I first lived in. What were you thinking of?

Our late dinner was even later due to a power surge, but hey worse things happen at sea. Like sinking. We dined on the upper deck of the Washington Restaurant. The waiters continually amaze us. They carry a large tray piled high with round food containers. So far no-one has dropped anything! I've learned the lesson the hard way not to order bottled water at the table, cos they charge your account $4. Whereas a jug of water is free. They have very inventive ways of charging you when all food and soft drinks are inclusive!

The food is gorgeous and there's lots of it. It's a pity they don't dish out simvastatin with the meals. Ms D has discovered the free ice-cream machine which is ideal for that huge gap in between meals! There is a jogging circuit on the top deck, but I don't think I'll participate.

Monday is a relaxing day at sea - so I'll be getting to grips with the casino! There will also be a Hairy Chest competition. Ah yes, the spirit of Joe Maplin is alive and well on the Carnival Valor. Ted can't hear you.......... x

  1. Hmmm - not posted a comment before so this may not work! Sounds great - something about eating all day seems v appealing. Let us know quick if you win a fortune tonight so I can get my resignation letter in.

    Lots of Love

  2. Sounds like you both have had a great start to the holiday - and just knew you would be flying the flag for Wales over there Dave! Enjoy the endless food mountains, and completely ignore the jogging deck (apart from any desire to trip up fat americans), stuff their overpriced water and stick to beer - probably the cheaper option :-)
